EXPANSION / COST REDUCTION / IMPROVED TALENT POOL

Brandon Medical are an award winning, UK medical technology company with 65 years of healthcare experience. Their medical lighting products, operating theatre lights, medical video and medical AV systems are in use throughout the world.  Due to their acknowledged position as experts in medical lighting, medical power & control systems, medical video and in medical AV systems there was a substantial need to increase their premises.

The facility comprises a range of environments including a customer facing visitor centre and customer service centre, as well as training and development and manufacturing areas. These include a state-of-the art demonstration operating theatre and an intensive care and treatment room; the aim of these is to represent Brandon’s products in an authentic setting. Other facilities include R&D labs, a photometric lab, training and education centre, clean-rooms and an assembly and test centre. Furthermore, in-house machine and paint-shops have allowed Brandon Medical to slash production costs and massively improve lead times.

On top of the increased facilities, new job roles have been created to tap into the research and development potential that the expansion brings. This will encourage further business growth as the company continues to expand and develop innovative medical and precision engineering operations.

The high quality visitor facilities allow for the demonstration of the latest state-of-the-art technology to healthcare engineers and clinicians in a true to life setting. Comprehensive teaching areas facilitate the training of distributors and overseas engineers on how to install, commission and maintain medical equipment are new features.

“Leeds City Council was very supportive of the planning process for the refurbishment of the building and the relocation involved selling our previous site in Middleton, as part of a redevelopment of the area.  Leeds City Region is a key hub for medical and healthcare technologies with one of the largest hospitals in Europe located here. Key functions of the NHS and the Department of Health are based in the City, 80% of patient records are held here, there is a wealth of Universities and the second biggest cluster of healthcare companies in the UK.”
