Annual Lecture at the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds with Chinese Minister Counsellor Mr Jin Xu (Chinese Embassy, London)
China’s ambitious plans for new Free Economic Zones in Guangdong, Fujian and Tianjin (adding to the established one in Shanghai), and the “One Belt One Road” Strategy mark new opportunities for business and trade with China.
The trade of commodity goods between the UK and China hit a record high of USD80.9 Billion in 2014, making the UK China’s second largest trading partner in the EU. There is great potential for developing China-UK business ties in the high-tech and services sectors. This is good news for the Leeds City Region, which is the UK’s largest financial and professional services centre outside London and an important centre for manufacturing.
Chinese Minister Counsellor Mr Jin Xu will address these issues during the Annual Lecture of the Business Confucius Institute. Mr Jin brings a wealth of experience in the field of international trade and commerce to his post as Minister Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Chinese Embassy in London. Educated at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, and with management and export training from Harvard Business School and Trinity College Dublin respectively, Mr Jin has been an official in the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) since 1984. In his time at MOFCOM, Mr Jin has held important positions such as President of the Academy for International Business Officials and Deputy Director General of the Department of American and Oceania Trade Affairs and etc..
We are delighted to welcome Mr Jin Xu to share his knowledge and experience with us at our Annual Lecture.
