The Leeds City Region China Business Club

The Leeds City Region China Business Club is dedicated to the exchange of ideas, experience and advice for businesses that want to make an impact with Chinese firms at home and overseas, to increase trade and investment flows between the two countries. The club will draw together the knowledge and expertise that exist within the region on China, be this for first timers seeking to export, or firms with a well-established presence in China.  Chinese organisations also sit on the leadership advisory panel, providing valuable insight into trade and investment opportunities.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

  • Raise the profile of the Leeds City Region
  • Drive inward investment from China to the Leeds City Region
  • Drive trade with China

STRATEGIC APPROACH:

  • Centralise China based business activity across the region.
  • Allow companies that either have an existing presence in China or are looking to develop business in China to share contacts, experiences and understanding.
  • Act as a central point of contact for Chinese investor enquiries. Providing a platform to effectively and seamlessly manage their enquiry and engage the most appropriate organisations and businesses in order to fully support them.
  • Promote inbound and outbound delegations and China related business activities, allowing businesses throughout the region an opportunity to engage.

Launched in July 2014, the Leeds City Region China Business Club is supported by over 200 companies. The Club was founded by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, CBBC, Business Confucius Institute at The University of Leeds, DIT (formally UKTI), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Xiamen and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

The 2014-2015 Advisory Panel members included: Call Credit, James Love Legal, Leeds Beckett University, DWA Architects, The University of Bradford and Spooner Industries; who when combined, have an unrivalled knowledge of working in China.
