A delegation from Hangzhou visited Leeds City Region to attend the Leeds Digital Festival.  Attendees included representatives from the Hangzhou Geely Automobile, Zhejiang Xizi Aircraft Components and senior government who learnt about investment and collaboration opportunities between the two regions.

Director of the Leeds Digital Festival Stuart Clark led presentations and was joined by representatives from the region’s digital sector including Bjss, AQL, Aeroservices, Market Gravity and the Open Data Institute Leeds. Opportunities were then explored in a meeting with Leeds City Council and Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership said:

“Leeds Digital Festival continues to shine a spotlight on and celebrate the strength of the digital industries across Leeds City Region.  Worth over £6.5 billion to the region’s economy and employing over 102,000 people, this thriving sector is a catalyst for delivering economic growth that benefits everyone who lives and works in the region.”

“Leeds Digital Festival plays a crucial role in highlighting our strengths in the digital, creative and technology sectors, helping to attract new investment and opportunities to the region. I am delighted that we are supporting this event again this year and helping to showcase and accelerate the digital revolution already underway.”

The delegation also visited the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics and Nexus, the University of Leeds’ new business innovation centre which provided the opportunity for networking with leading digital academics.
