The visit saw senior figures Councillor Judith Blake, Council Leader of Leeds City Council and Roger Marsh OBE, Chair of Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, visit Hangzhou and Shanghai, meeting with senior government officials and key business leaders. The LEP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinese e-commerce platform Kaola.com to develop a long term collaborative partnership focused on trade opportunities. Kaola.com has a customer base of over eight hundred million users and are currently providing access for over 5,000 new products and brands into the Chinese market. This platform will offer great opportunities for Leeds City Region businesses to export to China and capitalise on the demand for British products among the growing Chinese middle class.
