SKY Betting and Gaming is to create 100 jobs as it continues to expand across Leeds.

The business, which was spun out of Sky earlier this year, is to invest £11m as it adds 100 jobs in each city, boosting its Yorkshire workforce to more than 900.

"With the business performing well we have decided that now is the time to significantly increase our investment in people and facilities," said Sky Bet chief executive Richard Flint.

"This is a vote of confidence not only in our own plans to make betting and gaming better but also in the health of the Yorkshire economy."

Sky Bet will open a customer hub in Leeds city centre and increase its technology team at its Wellington Place headquarters, where it will add an extra floor.

It is spending £250,000 on a marketing campaign to support its recruitment drive.

Claire Braithwaite, head of Tech North, added: "Sky Betting & Gaming's creation of 200 more jobs in Sheffield and Leeds is fantastic news and demonstrates the strength of growth of tech businesses in the north of England and the quality of the talent pool we have here.

"With 180,000 people already employed in digital tech in the north of England this figure looks set to grow over the coming years and at Tech North we will be working with government, business and educators to support the development of a strong pipeline of tech talent in the region."
